Dodge County SHRM Wins Pinnacle Award from SHRM for

    Exceptional Human Resource Program

On Friday November 21, 2015 Dodge County SHRM won the Pinnacle Award, given by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to its state councils and chapters for highly notable contributions to the HR profession.

Created in 1991, the Pinnacle Award is the highest achievement SHRM state councils and chapters can attain, and it honors programs that exceed the standard activities of SHRM affiliates in enhancing the creation of effective HR management. Dodge County SHRM was one of 12 human resource organizations from nine states across the country to win the award.

Winning programs selected from nearly 90 applications received a $1,000 prize, given by Paychex Inc., which is the sponsor of this year’s Pinnacle Awards. The award was given at SHRM’s annual Volunteer Leaders’ Summit in Washington, D.C., which was attended by President Elect Mary Vogl-Rauscher.

“On behalf of Dodge County SHRM, we are pleased to receive this award.  The hard work and belief that we are a vital and needed Human Resource organization for Dodge County Businesses is represented by this award. We will continue to work hard to provide resources related to the Human Resource profession to our members and area businesses. Building partnerships with Moraine Park Technical College, 4 Area Chambers, and organization like the Manufactures Business Alliance are important to us”.

Our efforts to enhance the SHRM community and become a valuable HR resource in Dodge County is a "comeback" story in SHRM history. "The Little Chapter That Could" has come a long way from the verge of disbanding in 2013 with only 9 members, to becoming a vibrant chapter with 667% growth in professional membership in two years. This is a testament to a fully engaged board of directors and our chapter members.

The board recognizes the need and importance of providing valuable HR resources for area HR professionals and business leaders through all of our efforts - from rebranding our chapter, growing our membership, offering relevant monthly presentations with certification credits, partnering with MPTC and 4 Area Chambers of Commerce to promote awareness of the chapter, partnering with the local Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC) where most meetings are held, and sponsoring a new SHRM student chapter which became affiliated in 2014. With our partner, MPTC, we offer .SHRM certification courses for national exam preparation and have succeeded in enhancing the SHRM community in the Dodge County area.

Our members have played a significant role in our efforts by recruiting new members, volunteering for committees, attending monthly meetings, networking and becoming national SHRM members.

“This year’s Pinnacle Award winners have demonstrated exceptional leadership through their innovative programs,” said Henry G. “Hank” Jackson, president and CEO of SHRM. “Their projects also offer practical solutions to business challenges facing companies today such as military veterans’ transitions to the civilian workforce.”
